At Christ the King, we believe we are called to reach out and help our community, not just “members” of our church. Here are some of the ways we do this:
Support for Broome County Council of Churches and CHOW (Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse)
We do this by collecting food for CHOW in a donation barrel in the lobby of our church, by members participating in the annual CHOW Hunger Walk and other events, by our youth groups collecting food donations for CHOW from the neighborhoods surrounding our church, and accepting monetary donations for CHOW.
A child dies from malaria every 60 seconds.
Today we are in a special moment where we could turn this around. Working though Lutheran churches in Africa, the
ELCA Malaria Campaign is uniquely positioned to provide mosquito nets, insecticides, medication, health care, education and more to help eliminate deaths from this disease—for good. Our local Malaria Net campaign usually occurs around Mother’s Day.
TFH Family Health Network is NYC’s single largest provider of primary health care services to homeless women and children, providing 80,000 patient visits annually.
Throughout the year some of our members and groups collect, purchase or make winter coats, hats and scarves to donate to the Floating Hospital around Christmas time to help homeless mothers and children keep warm. We encourage you to help if you can.
